The General Assembly of the Arab Confederation of Internal Auditors held its first meeting in Jeddah, attended by the board chairs of the internal audit institutes and associations of ten Arab countries: Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon and Sudan, and adopted the Confederation's statute.

H.E. Dr. Hussam Abdulmohsen Alangari, Chairman of the Saudi Institute of Internal Auditors, was chosen as Chairman of the Confederation and Mr. Abdullah Saleh AlShebeili, the Institute's CEO, as Secretary General, with the Confederation headquartered in Saudi Arabia.

The Confederation aims to strengthen ties among member countries, promote cooperation in internal auditing, develop its practices and raise awareness of its standards and how they are applied.
